Turbo Ford.... Here we go again.

2Beers

It's me again.
First drive yesterday....Yay!
Its a beast, Gets the little BFG tires loose in the first three gears.
Neighbors weren't to happy probably with me running open 2 1/2 inch 3 feet long down tube only for exhaust...
Revlimiter talking and car sliding all over the road.
Oh well ahahhaaaaha.

On wards and up wards.
Down to bolting in passenger seat and get some new exhaust on the ole girl.
Probably be done done bout time snow starts to fly.
Thanks for following along another silly 1:1 build.
More soon and hope to have a vid shortly of it.
:beerchug:

It's me again.
Thanks dag
Ive had the little car out and about some.
Made a 25 mile round trip the other day.
Pretty amazing for what the little set up is.
I did spring a little leak on turbo antifreeze cooling line I noticed.
Hope to get it replaced today.

I ended up going with 2 1/2 inch exhaust and a cherry bomb glass pack.
Dumped it at the rear axle. blows dirt around pretty cool. sounds amazing in high boost but makes a harmonic vibration while sitting idling.
I may go 3 inch next. Not sure yet.
Been a fun little project for sure and I'm looking forward to taking it to the car shows next year.
Pinto's are getting very rare believe it or not ahahaaaaaa.
More soon, I still need to make a vid of sorts and driving experience and get it posted up.
;)::2thumbs

It's me again.
Say hello to my new shift knob.
Going with a Jack theme and custom license plates.
Ordered a couple of stickers too.
Thinking about doing a cemetery for back dash area.
Anywhoo
Jacks Bobble head needs some work over so a guy can screw it on the shifter.
More soon on that.

I'd for sure love to see this little thing running, open exhaust and sliding everywhere, that must be pretty nuts! I'd like to hear how it sounds too. I guess the muffled sound is a bit more neighbors friendly hahaha

2Beers

It's me again.
I did get a little walk around vid made now that it's all but done my friends.
Just need to get it uploaded and added here.

Was a fun little project to finish off the summer no doubts.
Already wrestling with finding and building something unique next with the other Turbo Bird.

2Beers

It's me again.
I've been spying your youtube to try and find a vid of a big little critter but was unsuccessful :)
Thanks Fred
I haven't uploaded it yet.
I may try and make another better one first.

we had our first real storm and snow the other day and why most of you are slowing down for the season my work is picking up.
Propane delivery driver
Ugh
ahahahaha
Hope to get sumthing shortly done though.

My 12 Inch jack skelingington showed up.
Probably putting him on back dash so a person can see him threw window on the little car.

The Pinto is looking pretty sweet!!!
When you said Turbo ford, I was hoping for some sexy Aero-bird 83-86 fox Thunderbird action. Yes i know the 87-88 TurboCoupe was better because more aero and the top mount intercooler. I like what i like.

I miss my 85 'Bird, she was fun in the twisties, and a good cruiser. Metallic grey, 10-D wheels, did some of the stainless in satin grey, ended up with a TC hood...

*cough* proline Pinto body on a traxxas Bandit *cough*
(it'll be way more hobby grade than that little Motormax Fresh Cherries car)

Oh hey...sorry frizz just seen this post...
Thanks on the props.
I still have one more 85 TC bird just sitting.
Actually been searching something else to build and rob all the power train from it and create.
Had another lead on a beautiful little sport side ranger 1996.... But the price is going up on it now and others will probably beat me out of it.

I'm still waiting on a title to arrive for the little pinto....ugh over two months now.
(Grief) isn't quite the word I would like to use....
I still need to make Vid and walk around of the little car too. Running out of weather now though.
Probably sit till spring....Grief..

Proline makes a pinto body......:hmmm:
Googling right now...I need one.

EDIT: Researched.... Their big..I have the nova body already and they actually come in around like 1/8th scale.
Buggars in deed.
If they only made them just a weeeeeeee bit smaller to match our 1/10 scaler trucks....
Great looking body though and thanks for the share.

Short-course truck drag cars are really BIG. 1/10 shart course is already more like 1/8 to start with, so i thought these are getting more like atleast 1/7 or 1/6.

Yeah, I've been slowly gathering parts to turn an ancient 'MSC' generation Rustler into a 'no prep drag' because it'll look cooler on the shelf that way? I mean, i might somehow get to run em with somebody?
A guy at work was trying to get me hyped up about building something to Drag. I got more excited about the idea when i ran across the Shark RC 'game changer' Monte Carlos, which i thought with a scratchbuilt grill and some better masking it could be changed from Meh into a fox '4-eye' Cougar. But that Pinto body uses a stock length bandit/rustler chassis, so it wouldn't need stretch plates or a low-cg Slash conversion, helping with both my Cheap and Lazy...

While my Bird was around, I'd wanted to build a 347 HO (5.0 stroker) to replace the 3.8, maybe swap the C5 for an AOD or T56. Realistically, i probably would have been better to just delete some smog & cats, add headers instead of leaving it stock while trying to pretend it didn't need more power. (So gutless)

When i got out of Fox chassis stuff, there were guys breaking 500hp with good reliability out of those 2.3 TC engines.

It's me again.
Well.....silly small update of sorts.
Daily driving the little car pretty much and having a ball with it.
Least it hasn't made me walk yet either.

Up next.....
I just acquired a 1997 FERD Ranger ...again. $500...score.
Drove it home ...hehehehee.
Gear tube selector on column was broke.
I paid farmer John, hopped under neath it, ...Selected Park lever on auto trans by hand....started little pickup....selected Drive...and hauled butt home to Farmers Johns disbelief.....hehehehehee.
Plans are to...possibly take one of the freebie 1985 turbo coupe thunderbirds set up's and swap into the ranger now.
Like the original plans of this build.
It has the 2.5 that is pretty much the same block as the 2.3 set ups.
Well sort of anyways,
But still very doable.

See what happens shortly.
Wheels and tires ordered along with new column gear selector.
Pics coming shortly.
;)::2thumbs:laughing:

SurlyBurly

Some day I'll be both revered & passe like Madonna
Please direct all blowoff valves to exit through the hood or fender, as the good lord intended.

I assume the game plan is that the '97 with the old twin I beam suspension and steering will clear the turbo engine where the '98 with A-arms you had before would not? Although I would have thought a '97 would still have the 2.3 engine not the 2.5? I've definitely seen factory turbo 2.3's swapped into 82-97 rangers before, so no doubt you'll make it fit.

Excited to watch the build
