Well, I never thought I’d get into building a garage … but ... here we are.

It won’t be the best, I’m loving every minute.

Here's some shots of a garage I'm putting together. Nothing too unique, just a simple place to allow me to shoot my RC builds.

The mezzanine is obviously mild steel welded together using some offcuts laying around my shop.

The roller door is again steel tube for the top drum and 10mm x 10mm solid square for the uprights. I've mocked up some corrugated cardboard packing for the door. I this will work well once I paint it grey / silver. I also accidentally found that by flattening the paper corrugation it looks like a damaged old roller door.

The shelves are just 3 ply and 4mm x 4mm timber from the local hardware with some stain.

Power switches 2.5mm styrene for the electrical conduit and flat sheet for the switches.

Your mezzanine looks so well engineered, it would probably hold more weight than the one I bodged up in my 1:1 shed.

A little more on the door today. I reckon it could do with some weathering. It looks a little too shiny. Any suggestions?

The colour looks about right for a fairly new Gal roller door.
Galvanised metal doors, especially on the inside, look fairly shiny for a long time. The outside is a different story of course....

If you wanted to tone it down, you could try applying a light wash of flat acrylic paint mixed about 10:1 with acrylic thinners. You could use any number of different colours thinned down, but a grey or brown should work if you want to dull the shiny metal look .

Alright, I’ve got a few questions. What it the overall dimensions of the little shop? I’m planning my own build but need to make sure I plan out my space well. The wife won’t be too pleased if I leave it on the kitchen table… lol! Thanks!
