SBG for scale boat building?

This forum is fantastic - helpful members, well organized, great tutorials, super-talented builders - you've got a good thing going here.

One of these days, I fully intend to take on a model 4x4, but I owe it to myself to finish an RC sailboat I started a couple years ago. Can anybody recommend a scale boat building forum that is similar in quality to this one?

For those interested, here's where the project is at today. I built the hull out of balsa and CA glue over a set of frames. Apologies for the poor quality - crappy phone == crappy pics. And thanks in advance for any suggestions!

And here's something I built recently. Not quite finished, I need to build the dormer. I actually intend to build a 1:1 of this one:

There's a few boat and buildings builds going on here on the SBG for sure! Don't look for another forum! ;)

This perfectly suits the Scale Boat Guilders if you ask me!

I tried scratch building a boat when I was a kid, but was lacking some basics on shapes required to float properly vs weight. I had used balsa for framing and monokote (airplane heat shrink membrane) for surfaces, it was way too light and shaped a too much of an angle so it was not realistic lol

Yours looks proper, maybe you?ll convince some here to add a pond and boat to their backyard real life diorama :D

Yep, a lot of good going on here. I have been wanting to build a post and beam house for years. I should start with a 1:9 scale version first.

As a guy who splits his hobby/modeling time between r/c cars, boats, and trucks as well as static wooden ships this is good to hear. I have found that each adds more skills and techniques to my toolbox that can be leveraged for the others. The downside is I'm a master of nothing 🤷‍♂️

Now that I can post pictures... Here's one of mine that build during the pandemic.

Here's one that is in work (it is a whaling ship like the one depicted in Moby Dick). The hull is plated with copper that has been aged and sealed.

If you like scale RC boat building check out zulu dockyard's current project on his YouTube channel. zulu dockyard

He's building a 1/33 scale all metal tugboat from scratch. The level of detail that he fabricates is insane.

He fabricates the parts out of sheet brass, brass tube, and brass rod - all soldered together. The hull was fabricated using scale plate shapes that were formed over a wooden buck. Where needed, the plates were annealed and then hammer formed over the buck. That's how he fabricates all the complex shapes, like the super-structure, and the push knee. He has an interesting method for soldering the pieces together. If I EVER get to the point where I think I'm good enough to scratch build something out of sheet, I'm going to have to remember how he did it.

He cranks out a video about once every week or two, they're usually 20-30 minutes long. He's up to Episode 51 now, Episode 1 started with making the hull buck and progressed from there. He's been working on the deck and super-structure detailing for a while now. The last major part of the model left to be made is the pilot house.
