I think you could probably make the wrecker boom from brass tube or brake line.
Mount the spare to front side of the boom instead?

Do the real D90/D110 trucks have enough to become tow trucks

They use D90s and D110s in Europe for wreckers. The D90s are popular in inner city areas.
I have brass square and rectangle tube coming for the boom with some flat 1mm sheet and 1/8 flat stock as well. It will be heavy but strong.
The tire on the boom is a great idea, thanks for that.

I got bored and started on a welder for the top of the lockers.
Next will be a compressor for the other side.

Made the vent for the rear even though it will probably be hidden.

Started on the compressor today. Made a lot of progress but have to figure out the pump and housing.

Are you going to make a motor housing for an electric compressor? Or just route some lines to something like a York compressor under the hood?

Made a start on the cover for it. Just waiting on the rest of the styrene to arrive. 1.5mm is hard to work with for detail.

Once the weather clears up I will prime it. Need to stop by my LHS to pick up some paints to make the compressor and welder look better and then I have to paint the details.

Post 33, might want to change the small doors over wheelwells to hinge at bottom. It would really suck trying to work out of that one with the door in the way

Great looking service box and boom. It looks to be a huge undertaking, but I really appreciate the extra effort to make all the doors functional and having full interiors for the storage boxes.

Welder and compressor look great too! Going to be a very unique build.
