Chevy K10 Brx01 AWB

Good morning. Although I’ve always liked the Zil 130, the steering angle is severely limited with the tires I want to use—they rub against the leaf springs, the BRX80 axles, and the steering knuckles; adding wheel spacers improves the turning angle but causes excessive rubbing.

So, I’ve decided to modify the chassis Wwith 2XL rails and a BRX90 axle conversion kit; it’ll be fitted with an RC4WD K10 body. I’ll keep you posted on the progress.

For now, it’s time for a cleanup—once I removed the body, I realized I hadn't even seen half the grime that had built up in there—and then I'll assemble the chassis parts.

It’s been an entertaining morning; I had to reposition the servo winch and print a receiver box, but it’s all set for when the body arrives. Honestly, having a printer right there—along with a community of people who design and share files—is a huge plus; it’s really cool. The side and rear mounts, as well as the electronics box, are pre-made designs I bought on Cults3D (not the free ones), but they’re well worth the cost—the fit and finish are amazing.

The 2XL chassis rails are installed, the BRX90 kit is assembled, and everything is pretty much ready to go, save for the usual final tweaks.

I made rear covers so the internal components wouldn't be visible and installed a channel for the winch cable so it wouldn't be exposed.

The bodywork should arrive today or tomorrow.

I got a bit carried away and didn't even take photos of the process, haha.

There are still plenty of details left to do, but I managed to finish the most important part—the one I hate the most, painting—today, while it was still sunny and warm

I still need to finish detailing the engine and the Tough Armour bumpers, but otherwise, I’d say it’s ready to test out this weekend

Bumpers are mounted; as expected, the front one required some modification, but it’s now solid, securely attached just the way I like it, and properly positioned. There are still a couple of details left, but I’d say it’s basically finished.

I wasn't quite sold on the visual contrast between the sleek, tubular front bumper and the clunky, oversized, flat rear one. So, I decided to install this 3D design from Cults3D—slightly modified regarding the side height—as it seems to match the front bumper much better.

And the front tow hook has arrived, complete with the mount to cover the winch opening.

Now I just need to do something about that one last detail—it's really triggering my OCD.

I gave it a lot of thought and ended up printing another bumper—this one a bit longer—to provide some protection for the body when reversing, heh heh.
