    Default Suzuki LJ80

I built a Series 1 once. It was my contender for the Winter '18 Military Buildoff. Didn't win anything but it fast became my favourite truck to run. Climbs like Billy Goat Gruff and when the hard top is off it just sticks to anything you point it at.

That said there were some sour grapes. I chose a Series 1 because just before the buildoff I discovered a Series 1 107 Ute built by a guy called Timm Cooper. I told myself that the buildoff was a practice run for the 107 Ute. Here's a link to Timm's build, and here's a picture:

At USTE I traded the Series 1 body but kept the MST CFX it was on. And thought it was the ideal opportunity to do a scale 107 Ute. But sitting down to start I couldn't face building a thing I'd already built, and so decided to do something similar to Timm's 107 Ute but with a Suzuki LJ80 instead. Which looks just like an SJ10 but also came as a pickup.

Started with the grill. Here it is in resplendent white.

    Little more progress...

    ...and we're up to date.

Going will be slow. We're in lockdown like everyone else but there's a lot to do here. Building a scale course with my boy, building a 1:10 scale mill with working water wheel for my pond, and writing software when I'm not doing the other 20 DIY projects I should be doing.

    Nice grille.

I really liked that Series 1, this should be fun. Have to say, I think that 107 ute is very, very cool.

Scale course sounds fun, you should do a thread for the water mill!

Thanks and yes that 107 looks amazeballz. The scale course isn't exactly an obstacle type thing, more of a trail. Behind that berm and the wall next to it is a free/high/motorway which has no speed limit. Germany's awesome when there's no virus.

The mill is not worth a build thread I think. The most interesting things about it are the scooter wheels I hacked to pieces to get an axle with bearings.

Posting the odd picture of the garden stuff on my non-rc Instagram account, and waterwheel pics will go there too. Because it will live in the garden.

Me too. Given how chatty my posts are getting it may take a while

The bloke is clearly loving it. I think his squeeze is terrified but forcing a smile through gritted teeth. Probably early days in their relationship - she's still trying to impress him.

In other news the LJ80 is progressing at lightspeed squared.

I'm sorry. I'm losing it, and not just with the grill. @pardonmyn00b suggested I might be using the wrong end of needle files. Thank you. Thank you both.

Promised myself in January to engage more fully with this hobby. One objective was to embrace flex Fridays. As you can see the benefit of flex Friday is evident. The front wheels needs to be more towards the back.

    So I fixed that. Before,

    ...and after:

Another shocking development are the completed front shock tower towers.

I think I can finish this build by tomorrow.
