Thread: Tamiya TS or PS paint for Lexan body?

Default Tamiya TS or PS paint for Lexan body?

Hi, I'm going to paint a lexan Nissan R35 GTR for my Traxxas 4tec 2.0. I know that PLA paint is meant for lexan and RC cars, but the TS paints has more colora, the color that I want. Is there much of a difference between the TS and PS paints if I am painting a lexan body?

    Thanks!

Default Tamiya TS or PS paint for Lexan body?

    PS for polycarbonate (Lexan)
    TS for ABS/polystyrene

PS is specially formulated to bond to polycarbonate. TS will flake off. It can’t bond and flex.

What about the matte paint? Does it chip off too?

TS will, yes. PS won't. Tamiya offers a PS Matte paint. You paint on the inside as regular with your colour, and then mask the outside and spray the matte.

I’ve heard ps 55 sprayed first allows the use of ts as or ps to be used . Anyone try this ?

Don't mean to take over thread, however my question kinda piggyback yours. What about PS58 pearl clear first then a TS46? If not anyone can post a picture of a vehicle with PS13 gold? Again sorry just didn't think starting a new thread. Continue on
