    Default Revamping the “loaner” truck

Everyone has that one rig that is deemed... “the loaner”. One that you’re glad you have it, but maybe don’t drive it as much as the others. The one when your friend comes around and says “can I try?” So ya let them use the “loaner”. So I got a TRX4 Sport in blue and let’s face it... the body looks like a toy, though the rig itself is not.

I got this in a trade. Only hop ups on this was a Eco Servo, eBay wheels, Voodoo KLR tires, Castle bec, and brass front portal housings. It crawls great but, not my favorite. So as to like it a bit more, but within the limits of not loving it and not mind my friends abuse, I decide to make some personal touches on the rig.

I am one who does not have a Toyota in my collection, and not sure if I ever will, but thought the Sport body was close enough to try something. Ordered up from Traxxas and trusty AMain Hobbies the inner fenders, TRX4 sport camper body, and all the molded parts available.

I cut a portion of the stock body to insert the bed and back window in the Traxxas TRX4 Sport Camper body. Weathered it with some clear, dark red, salt and Camel yellow paint. Also cut out the back window of the camper shell to access the body pins.

    So far so good!

Progress on the paint today. Such a process with lines. Silver and black on the inside. Dark red for rust... add salt... camel yellow over that. Then the graphics and will wet sand after all that. Whew!

Turned out great... “I’M LOANING IT!!!”

Now maybe some door handles, exhaust pipe and think about interior. Also hinges for the back window.
