    Default RC4WD 4Runner build

I bought this 84 4runner last fall for a bit of a project. So far I've only replaced the wheels and tires but it will also be getting some other new upgrades. I wanted to keep the look and patina so mods will be with the drive train and suspension, none the less Its fun to drive.
I decided I wanted to make a bit of a scale version of it so a couple of weeks ago I got to work. It is not going to be totally scale and wont' try to do the patina on the body but it will have the same general look.

I started a couple of weeks ago on prepping parts from the RC4WD 4runner body kit. Made a visor out of wood similar to the process on another 84 I made. Modified the grill and getting bits and pieces sanded, primered and painted.

Fun! I like seeing builds that have a real full-sized 1:1 Daily counterpart.

For sure, love the scale stuff! specially the 4runners!
I thought this was going to be the color but now I'm second guessing.. I've gone through all the local auto part shop colors, and even though this is closest I'm feeling I need the factory wine red 3B2. Shaping up nicely so far though.

Thank you both. I decided to go ahead and order some color match paint.. which won't match anyways because my 4runner is half primer and faded but I guess I'll be able to relive its early years. Onwards and backwards I go!

I finally got a can of the factory paint that I ordered custom mixed and made time to paint it yesterday. It is a base / clear paint so I used the 2k glamour for the clear coat. Its plenty shiny. Color looks spot on, glad I repainted it.
Paint turned out pretty good considering how windy it was yesterday. It ended up with a bunch of pin holes on the hood and roof, probably pollen but they should polish out if I ever get around to it.
The whole time I was painting I was thinking that I was missing something but used all of the paint to get it covered. Then last night I found the valance sitting on my bench ... oh crap! Paint can was done spraying so I took some emergency measures and smashed it and pinched a hole in it with my wire cutters. Was able to drip out enough paint to get it colored. Whew.. clear coated it with some rustoleum. Disaster averted
