Default BCRAIL 4652 Locomotive on 8x8 Crawler

Yep, you read the title correctly. I am making a locomotive body for an 8x8 crawler. It is a combination of three vertical plates and an unseemly amount of linkages. The body will be 27” long and around 6” wide.

I figured why not go for it. This will be a fun quick build. All I am doing is the body and details. Someone else will mount and paint it. It certainly wouldn’t be my first choice for a body, but why the heck not. With all that linkage poking out it should even have a slight resemblance to a locomotive.

Just getting the design down before I start cutting. I made this so it can be multiplied by 3 for the measurement to cut.

Starting to cut Styrene. I knew how big this was going to be but seeing it in person is another story. My workbench is almost too small and I don’t even have the cab on it!

Oh yeah, here is the drawing I worked up. It’s a third of the size, so I can easily scale it up.

Made some great progress today. Just a little bit more to get the basic structure complete. Then it’s just a lot of finishing and detail work.
