    Default Mog II (Mogenstien)

    Another day another build

With the Portal Jerp pretty much done and a bunch of spare time on my hands at the moment, I finally made a start on Mog II. I'm calling this one Mogenstien as it's going to be a Mog 406 cab and chassis modified to run on Volvo C303 axles (Mad Moose Portals)

It's going to be running GCM gearbox and transfer case (shamelessly hacked about to remove the under/over drive and to allow it to be mounted in the chassis and clear the cab.)

Today involved cutting and bending the chassis, installing cross-members and mounting the Gear and transfer case. Followed up by making a start on mounting the axles (the front needs a panhard and the rear needs the lower links)

    Here's a couple of pic's of today's progress

Should be able to get a bunch more stuff done tomorrow.

    Thanks as usual for looking.

Didn't get as much done today, however rear end is 90% dialled in (need to look at upper shock mount position)

Zip ties are to set ride height as the springs are a little stiff.

Then looked at mounting cab floor and bending up cage work.

These couple show some potential clearance issues with the under side of the footwells.

looks like around 65mm of belly clearance at ride height

More as and when it happens, thanks as always for taking an interest.

Made some more bent bits of metal over the last couple of days

Also printed the main parts of the electronics box.

It's a simplified model of a 6 cylinder Mercedes diesel engine I found on 3d warehouse and modified to be hollow. Should be enough space for the esc, bec and RX

    More soon

Front suspension and most of the steering is now sorted

Had to revert to the draglink being in front of the axle due to packaging issues but it now all fits and moves nice and freely.

clearance at the wheel wells is at a premium but the cab can and probably should go up 5mm yet which will solve that.

More soon, as I would like to have this running by the weekend.

    Cheers Mr Noob,

Well didn't get it running for this weekend . I have however made some progress

began making the battery tray in the rear

Then got sidetracked by detailing the engine

Also settled on the main body color and sprayed the bonnet/hood. All the metal work is going to be black, like the door.

    More soon.

    Ta for looking.

Thanks, to be honest most of the orange will be getting covered with sponsor type stickers, so I hope it doesn't look to much like a pumpkin when it's finally done.

Slow progress this week as I got side tracked by re-working the MAZ's drive line.

Added the main part of the grill to the cab.

Added a brake booster, also have a fuel filter to add in the engine bay, still need to make an airfilter, header tank and fuse box.

Got some more detail work done on the engine

Also got the steering wheel painted

    and a battery.

depending on the weather I may try and paint the main section of the cab tomorrow.

    Thanks as usual for looking.

Happy to report the weather stayed fine for most of the day, so some paint got applied, Grill is installed and painted up and fitted the headlights, also added some more details to the engine and engine bay.

next will be fabbing up the front bumper and finishing off the rear metal work.

    More soon.
