    Default help with sodering iron

    apparently my current sodering iron just does not cut it... any sugestions for a reliable afordable iron? also what can i use to make custom rollcages out of brass?

    I don't know what all you solder but, hakko 936 is hard to beat. I use mine alot. You can get them now for 60 or so.

    If you're looking to build cages or "weld" then you're never going to get there with a soldering iron. The process is called Brazing - and there's tons of Youtube videos and threads all about that.

    you will need to use a torch to do proper soldering on brass for cages. butane or small propane. map gas or acetylene for steel brazing.

    is there any other way? one that does not involve open flames since i live in an apartment...
