My friend Jeff (bluezephar) sent me a picture of this truck he took in a local parking lot. The license plate said "84 CT" or something to that affect. He figured it was a clone but took a pic anyway cause we don't see too many of these types of turks round these parts. Anyway, I googled "1984 camel Trophy Virginia" & found it right away. It's the real deal. '84 German team, he acctually verified it via the original German drivers from dents & dings. he's restoring it now.

The forum is D90 or something. I joined it with intentions of contacting him & doing a stretched D90 build on a rcmodelx chassis based on his turk figurin' I could easily go over and check it out... but that was 692 ideas ago.

I can't find Jeff's pic but this is from is restoration thread:

And another... this is from a trip I did in SE Asia in 1990-91. I was working for an adventure travle company there when the 1st Gulf war broke out. tourism went down the tubes & we had nothing to do. So they sent us out to explore & look for potential tourist things to do.... like... are you serious? Hell yea. Crossing the Sadang river in Sulawesi, Indonesia. There was a weight limit on the bridge & a guard. He made us take all our stuff out of the truck, drive over empty & carry all the stuff across.

This photo was the only good that came of that portage:

    Great additions Mr. Land Jeep.

I broke the law again today. But it was worth it to capture this lovely FJ62.
