    CF Skins... really? Awesome
It's the quickest way for me to fab something. Balsa tacks together fast with CA, shapes real easy, and strengthens real quick when skinned. Using carbon allows certain stiffnesses to be achieved, with very few layers. In this case, one.

Tomorrow, they will be edge-sanded, then the edges capped with a skin.
They will then get sanded, holes made and sealed, a satin clear and maybe some 3six seatbelt harnesses or similar.

Great work sir. I really appreciate all these builds where people use materials I couldn't even begin to start with. This is a long term build, but I think I see light at the end of the tunnel!

Seats done. They weigh 15gm each. Still have to cut holes for the harnesses, get some harnesses, fab some cusions, and make mounts.

    Default Skid Plate Done

Got the skid plate all finished.

I first made a fiberglass reinforced plate, containing a good amount of graphite powder / epoxy resin. This makes the resin hard and slick. Good for skidding over rocks.

    71.JPG

I then treated the chassis with a mold release agent, and globbed on a graphite / cabosil thickend epoxy mud. Kind of like cake icing. The plate was then jammed into the bottom of the chassis; making an imprint, so that the skid plate will fit the chassis like a glove.

It was then cleaned up, edge champfered, threaded inserts bonded in, and then it was bolted on. Check it:

I will post a how-to on the seats. Anything to avoid producing them. evilgrin

The how-to is posted in the Fabrication section under, "Carbon Fiber Tuorial".
