After seeing the Movie Death Race.....It reminded me of the original and the pc games Carmagedon 1,2,3 and Crashday. So I thought why not make a Death Race Drifting Vehicle. Not sure what body I will use.Might have to watch the movie a couple more times.Machinegun Joe's truck is cool, but this is what I have to start with.
I've had this Tamiya TL-01 F150 Ford Lightning Truck kickin around for like 15 years, just haven't used it in a long time.So now it's time to make it into a Death Race Drifter.Electronics were pilfferend for different projects in the past so time to dig some stuff up.
I'll use the stock speed controller from the Hemi Cuda,I believe the stock motor is a 27turn,and if I look hard enough I will find the radio and receiver.
The original mags that came with it got painted and they are now on the Astro Van crawler,so I'm putting on the Cyclone's I originally got from Kevin. Now I have to find some Rail Guns and things like that......Anybody know where:evilgiggle:

nice rims

Finally those rims have a home!
They were just to pretty looking for a scale off road truck, much better suited for this...
That body would look amazing sprayed mat black on the outside, Black on Black rides look mean.

Sorry no new pics yet just an Idea.......
Thinkin of making the body out of pop cans and makinig it a Death Destruction Drift Race.
Real damage,he who makes it to the finish line first wins.
The chassi I'm using would be awsome for lots of room to crush the body in from t-bones to pit manovers to all out body bashin, whatever you gotta do to win:evilgiggle:
So who wants to join the mayham.......
A Mad Max Drift event or Death Drift:haha:

OK so there I was at Don's house and he chucks me this body and say check this out for your Death Racer. So I took it home and guess what..............it fits.....Saweeeeeet:rock:

Thanks Don...Now you'll have to find the rest of the parts for it.And I'll have to get the stickers off it too.
I do believe I now have the body for the Death Race Drifter.
Now to go and buy some styrene and create...OH what fun I can hardly contain myself:evilgiggle:
Gonna forget about the aluminum smash up body for now but I will still be workin on that in the background.:evilgiggle:

Found some guns today............Woot Woot Woot......and picked up some styrene from one stop today to make the armour and train plow for the front.
Machine Gun Joe's truck never had rocket launchers....but it looks cool.
I might just make some rail guns for the back fenders just like in the movie.
This will be my first attempt working with styrene. After watching Cory work with it,It looks quite easy to work with.
So I'm lookin forward to this build.

Here are some updated pics.started doin the armour.
It's not gonna be exactly like Machine Gun Joe's.But a mix of Frankenstien's Mustang and Machinegun Joe's truck. Here is the truck de-stickered.Made so scale barbbed wire too.
First time workin with styrene,it's fun so far....
Making the gattling guns for the back fenders should be fun.and I have different plans for the location of the rockets.

New Update...Gonna build Frankenstiens Mustang also.BUT......the body will be made out of Dollar Store Flat Cookie sheets .88 cents each thin and cheap. Here's my first attempt at this......
It is fairly easy to work with just be gentle and take your time. And I can see a right set of tools for shapping and what not,and a bit of practice it could be real cool.
Should be perfect with a sub frame to connect it with to give it more stability. It will be quite strong and capable of with standing a pretty good crash.Perfect for the All Out Full Contact Death Race.
Who's in this could be a Fricken blast.

01-27-2009, 11:39 PM
dont forget to duct tape the back. it helps to firm it up a bit but will still dent

01-27-2009, 11:40 PM
i think that smashing up some cookie sheets would be a blast....i'd build a body for this:beerchug:
