So this should be one of my rare collector builds that may make a few RC History buffs cringe. I will be altering this body slightly (hopefully tastefully enough not to anger the RC gods) This Xmas a few friends passed on some extra special RC pieces for me to start some of my more obscure builds for 2012.

One of which is something we couldn't find much history for online, I think this will make one really cool scale project. On the 23rd of December my buddy Blair came strolling into the shop with this cool looking box with a big grin on his face. At a glance I knew that it was old but had no clue what was inside.

I spotted the old Ferrari print on the box but thought it just had some cool parts inside from something else. I didn't see it coming, no idea that inside was an absolutely mint Kyosho Ferrari Pure 10 body set.

A few shots

I'm going to start a thread in the Body Shop section to see if we can stir up some Kyosho body talk and get a little more history on these things.

Heading towards something like this for the project. This will not be on the original GP SPIDER 4WD (nitro car), instead a hybrid Electric setup that hopefully will leave enough room for some nice scale detail inside the engine bay and cockpit.

It'll be a slow build but I'm hoping one of my more detailed cars to date.

Can't believe you got this. Easily an Iconic 80's racing supercar. So unbelievably jealous, sir. Needs to make a guest appearance in Al's basement when you're done. :D

I guess my subscription to "Obscure and Absurdly Cool RC's" magazine must have ran out because I have never seen these before. This will be a beautiful build.

Wow this brings back memory's and regrets. I had a spider with the 250 gto body. Will be watching this build. Would love to get another gto body one day

I love vintage race cars and this one ranks up there as one of the most beautiful of all. Of the four that were built, only one remains in original condition.

I don't know what you plan to do but if it's more than removing the roof and opening up the nose...:worry:

Is this one gonna be for sale afterwards? :beerchug:

And this is how timeless this car is...it was only raced in 1967. ;)

I don't remember seeing them, must have been tat mid 90's gap that I missed out on em.
Very lucky to get a second chance.

i will also try and follow this This will be a limited driver, I don't mind damaging something that's replaceable but a high speed crash would be devastating (unless there's a re-release)

Sean :cool:That's real life scary rare.
When I say cutting I mean respectfully... I want the cockpit and rear deck to open.
Everything else will remain very close to the real thing. Maybe my usual altered stance and a slight wheel tire change. Only because the body is large and standard wheels and tires don't fit, we'll be going mutant on the wheels and tires to get them as close as possible. If we can't achieve the right look out of plastic we'll send the project to the evil genius at GCM. I know I'd love to see true knock off wheel nuts for this and some of the other race cars on the way. Will need a scale rubber mallet to accessorize! LOL

LOL, that's about the same amount of racing this one will see shhh

Well I have an old aquarium here for it. Dump the fish, place car on a glass surface, put aquarium over car and seal with silicone. Instant hermetic seal!

Of course I'm only kidding but if this thing ends up looking like all your other stuff it WILL deserve a glass display case. ;)

I guess that would make it pretty cheap by now.:paranoid:

I love how Kyosho were straight up about the size; 1:9.2 scale (correct me if I remember that wrong from your box).

Great looking car. Congratulations on the new project. Funny, that same day I purchased that same car on Gran Tursimo 5 for 20,000,000 credits. What a beauty.
