well ive been bitten by the drag car bug and had a motor speed control and chassis laying around and decided to start to put together a drag car out of it. this will hopefully be similar to what i end up with in the end but im not going to try and duplicate it exactly, and im starting with a 68 and this one is a 69.

here is what im going to start with for parts

What Braydon hasn't mentioned is that those tires are from a 1:12 scale bike model. They stretched over those wheels perfect. That picture you're aiming for is awesome.

Well after putting way more time into this car then i ever thought it was going to be when i started here is how it has started to turn out.

here is some extensive work that has been done to the front end of the tc4 chassis every front end peice from the tc4 was removed and instead i swaped it out for some pan car knucles and connected everything together still using only the existing mounting holes the tc4 had and some hardware and aluminimum i had laying around. i used most of the stearing parts but changed the mounting location of them and shimed them up half an inch.

im not sure on where i will mount the battery yet or how im going to mount the body either because i dont want any body posts showing

I mounted my battery to a thick lexan bracket that I bolted to the body behind the rear tires in the trunk. It gets you closer to pulling wheelies.......

looking good, bud!.. Stock width, wheelbase?

05-28-2011, 01:06 PM
The wheel base is still 10 inchs I narrowed the front end to 7 inchs though. Thanks al I want to get this done asap I want to race haha

Maybe. I'm curious to see what you think is too slow. I have a radar gun. My car does 68km within a 1/10 scale 1/4 mile on a slight up hill. I have the same setup you're running right now. It's almost uncontrollable.

05-28-2011, 08:13 PM
definetly not uncontrolable of the line i can almost give it full throtle once its 15 feet away i can give it full throtle with no control issues. im going to go through all the setting on th comuter on the castle link and see if i have something set wrong possibly

05-28-2011, 09:48 PM
well after takeing some advice from matt c and uping my pinion size this thing now hauls. 26 tooth pinnion and 81 spur makes a huge difference. way to fast to be doing speed pass's at night with that was for sure. ive had a litle change on my paint scheme and picked up some paint today to paint it like this

05-29-2011, 12:47 AM
Good to see you figured it out... That paint scheme is way cool!

05-29-2011, 06:29 AM
That's going to look so good.are you going to do that dark gray scalup on there to.

06-05-2011, 07:18 PM
well a bit of an update on this i got realy motivated on friday and worked on the body all day and got it all masked and painted up here is what i was going for and the finished result.

still need to put all the decals on and figure out how to mount the motor i have for it and mount the body without body posts

Man that looks so so sweet.

06-05-2011, 08:10 PM
That looks sweet man. Should look good ripping along

It's coming along nicely. I'm looking forward to seeing it on the track. Al and I ran for an hour or so tonight. Found a great few spots here in Abby. Our cars are so close. It's strange. Often we'll finish with less than a car length between us. You'll have to come out soon.

Al and I should also post up what we're doing so others can join. It's usually something spur of the moment. His new car is up and running now. It's quick.

06-06-2011, 01:04 PM
A lot of building going on with this guy. It's ok, Brayden, I'd be scared to run with us too.:burn:

.. Looking good, bud!

06-07-2011, 06:58 PM
haha i wish i had lots of time to build if i did i would have this out long ago raceing with you guys. It will be soon thats for sure. i have some tuneing i would realy like to do to it but im gonna wait till i bring it out once and just focus on getting this body mounted up i almost have my no body post mounts done

09-04-2011, 09:37 PM
it definetly would be cool i either need to do that or up my drag brake. You almost need more room to slow down then to get up to speed. Unfortunetly i blew up the rear end on this car and need to rebuild it

12-01-2011, 01:33 PM
well repaired my blown up diff a few weeks ago and decided to take it out on the street this morning and strap my i phone to it with a speedometer ap and got the thing up to 70 kmph kinda disapointing i thought it would have alot more in it i think it would proably hit 75- 80 if the ground was dry id like to see it hit 100. i think this ap might not be 100% acurate though and be a little n the slow side

(since drag raceing has slowed down im just trying to see the top speed i can get out of this thing)

im thinking i might ake up a custom mount for the motor and direct drive the motor to the rear end of the output shaft

12-01-2011, 01:50 PM
Awesome Paint man. Cars looking good one those wheels.

12-01-2011, 03:34 PM
Love hearing you got it up and running, Braydon! Depending on the space you're dealing with, 70-80kp/h doesn't seem so bad.. I look forward to having another contender in the spring!

12-01-2011, 04:02 PM
That thing is gorgeous! Nice job man.

You do know I have a radar gun. Save your iphone. 80km rwd is great. Was that 3s or 2s? What motor?

12-02-2011, 12:16 PM
that was 70 on 3s something is weird about it ever since adding the sensor wire it has slowed down alot.

ya the phone actualy came flying out at 70 km once good thing it was in its otter box haha

04-11-2012, 11:50 PM
well decided i realy wanted to get this one finished up, stupid drag teaser video.

body mounts done front and rear using some aluminum L channel and some left over xr10 mounts

04-12-2012, 09:16 AM
Yeah that video got my motor runnin too... just test drove mine last night and have some bodies on order for some options. Hope you get yours out soon!

04-12-2012, 09:43 AM
It's all dusty like it's been neglected at the back of a shop all winter.

04-12-2012, 10:33 AM
Definitely sitting way to long. It's officially a runner just needs to be detaile and interior and lights added.

05-29-2012, 09:57 PM
That is a smokin good paint job. Hoping to have a car built soon!
