Default Scale version of Ian Roussel's "J5" Johnny Jalopy - Cartoon Hot Rod.

So here is another one of those - "I stumbled across a photo said Crap that is so cool, wonder if I can build it"! So here is the story - started with a brand new 1/10 scale Maisto Samba van, then cut it apart. Narrowed, channeled, shortened and reassembled it to try to achieve the proportions of the real 1:1 build. I

I researched a few online reference photos and reached out to Ian to see if I could get a few frame/chassis photos. So far it has a Feiyue 1:16 scale rear axle, first time trying one on a scratch build, a King Hauler front axle some generic rear shocks.

Hand painted the wide whites, added HPI Vintage five spokes for the rears, fronts are Pegasus Hobbies wires and spinners.

Here is the progress to date.

Awesome. I saw the build on his other Johnny Jalopy build and it was crazy cool as well. You are off to a really nice start.

Thanks, I did't realize how talented Ian Roussell was until I saw this build.

Thanks, been a slow go, but is kinda looking like the real "cartoon" version.

Haven't given the "J5" #johnnyjalopy #ianroussell scale build much attention lately. Today I mocked up the resin headlights, sectioned the rad shroud, mocked up the engine placement and the side frame rail close outs. Waiting on the motor/ESC combo and have the servo to install.IMG_9255.JPGIMG_9256.JPGIMG_9258.JPGIMG_9257.JPGIMG_9259.JPG

Little #johnnyjalopy "J5 - Cartoon Hotrod"...#Ianroussel scale replica build update. Chassis is in white like the real deal. Modified the headlights and added LED's. Mounted the trans/motor mount plate, now waiting for the power system. Tackled the dash and added a servo actuated rear hatch. Motor cover needed scratch made valve covers and an intake manifold, now to make a scale Q-Jet! Chassis is sitting on a #exclusiverc rotisserie in the garage, engine is on a ExclusiveRC engine stand.IMG_9730.JPGIMG_9740.JPGIMG_9736.JPGIMG_9735.JPGIMG_9732.JPGIMG_9728.JPGIMG_9721.JPGIMG_9724.JPGIMG_9706.JPGIMG_9748.JPGIMG_9745.JPG
