So these are cheap toys. Like, hilariously cheap. The stock electronics are trash and while it does come semi-proportional throttle and it's a 2.4G system, the steering is god awful, sounds terrible and works just about as good as it sounds. It's $30 toy, but does have some things going for it.

The body is definitely worth the money. It's got pretty good detail for a toy and who doesn't love military trucks?

It has a decent 3D interior too and some sweet swiveling mirrors.

    IMG_20171026_120453.jpg

The drive line angles suck and the shafts will probably break soon.

    IMG_20171026_120506.jpg

The axles are neat looking and both are offset, if you care. Probably not very durable at all and 100% plastico inside and out. That's also not stock steering, avert your eyes and read on!

The tires look like Pitbull Rock Beast ripoffs. Hard rubber that will probably suck on rocks, dirt, snow....well everywhere. But they look mean and aftermarket, which is the direction I'm going since she's bobbed.

    IMG_20171026_120433.jpg

Cab is held on with two screws near the fuel tanks, two tabs that slide under the front bumper and the battery tray snaps into the *opening* hood! The bed has two screws underneath holding it on. About 1 minute is enough to have them off.

So those are some crappy lit shots to kinda show how it comes apart. Here's some more showing what I threw in it. Turns out a HS55 and a B1R fit like they were made for it. Also crammed in a Tactic RX since I had one laying around collecting dust.

So just like that the truck has tripled in cost and still drives like a small, bouncy toy BUT at least it has proportional steering that actually steers, nice smooth throttle delivery, drag brake and a transmitter that will last more than 5 minutes. I kept the stock battery for now, the weight up front is welcome and I don't feel like stuffing a LiPo in. The motor is a torque-less wonder and stalls out pretty easily and it's geared too tall, maybe with the full 6V 700mAh horsepower loaded beast of a stock NiCd charged up it will be better.

Also, two trucks are always better than one.

    HA!

Great review of a terrible truck. I regret my purchase already, and still don't have it.

Your upgrades seem good, but not good enough, am I right?

It's awesomely terrible. I'm sure I'll break something soonish and be forced to look for alternative axles, drive shafts and a transmission. It could do with a hefty gear reduction anyways!

So the steering is much better now and the B1R is a little champ. The stock motor is gutless, so I'm looking to swap it out for an XMods motor I found in my stuff. If that works better, then once the transmission explodes I'm going to try to swap in either an RC4WD 1/24 Hammer or gut an ECX crawler. I also painted up a bunch of resin stowage accessories I had from tanks and threw them in the bed for some pictures. Also gave it a quick black wash for a little detail. Still have more painting to do!

So the tan truck got painted tan again, but a better flat Desert Sand color and blacked out chassis, wheels, grill and bed liner. I also flipped the leaf mounts on the axles to lift it and it also allowed me to correct the pinion angles a bit. Nice scale lift compared to the grey truck!

Grey Deuce got a driver and more paint work as well. Still on the hunt for a stronger motor.
