Thread: Bringing a matte finish to a shiny gloss?

Default Bringing a matte finish to a shiny gloss?

Well I may have made a small mistake in painting my model. So I put a flat finish on one door, it doesn't look horrible, but i would like the look a lot more if it had a glossy finish. The rest of the model has not yet received a finish coat.

So what steps should I take to give it that nice shiny gloss?
Should I worry about the matte paint affecting the the look of the metal paint underneath?

I suspect I could wet sand the matte then paint the gloss on top. Does anyone see anything wrong with this?

Nah, I've gone from flat to matte to semi to gloss and back again with no troubles.

Even a gloss clear coat would work.
But for best results wet sand with 1000 or 1200 grit and paint it with gloss.
    Hope it helps
