Default tamiya paint issues..? soft abs body now.

I read over on rcc that someone here has had issues with tamiya paint recently?
I had a weird one happen over the last few days.. I sprayed a white base coat and the coral green color coat on my gelande body (new build) and it seems to be softening the plastic. I sprayed the paint tuesday night, wednesday it still seemed too soft to work with so i waited til thursday to further work on it. So... last night while handling it to detail paint it, i noticed the paint hadnt dried completely and my fingerprints had pressed into the plastic. at this point i figured i had some work ahead of me so i lightly scratched the pain with my thumbnail and it dug a gouge into the hood! now the entire body had become pliable and im leary to try and strip it and do further damage. Any ideas?

Yikes! That sounds like a bad batch of paint.

I've never had one melt the body before, but I've had paint come out like it was coming out of a hose, so I suppose anything's possible. If it hasn't dried, it almost makes me think it's not Acrylic.

Both were Tamiya and both were TS?

No, just sanded the mold lines, then scuff with scotchbrite pad. Same way I've done it for years...

I'm giving up, and ordered a replacement body. This one gives me a great base to cut up!! There's noob, who did a camper a while back that I've been dying to try and steal the idea and poorly copy. I'll be going the British caravan route though.. full camper interior for small plastic family to take on vacation

After much soaking in brake fluid, I got all the old paint off and it's still tacky. It's like the plastic is plastidip is all over it. Not sure how much effort is worth putting in here. Meh

Could it be a problem with the body itself. They may have had manufacturering issue. May be worth a shot to call.

Never seen that happen to a body before. Might be a bad batch of plastic?
