Default Trying My Hand at a 1955 Ford F100 Styrene Build Pick up

Always loved the '55-'56 Ford F100's. Been wanting to try my hand at a styrene build but was a little concerned that I wouldn't be able to pull off the fenders. Have the rough shell started, using thinner sheets and inner bulkheads to form the curves. Just rough sanded the fenders.....I might be able to pull this off! Kinda cool to build one in a way much like a 1:1, that is cab separate from the fenders, hood and bed.

This will be a 11" w.b. chassis, using a SCX10 this time, with the usual suspects...

Castle MMP and 10a BEC - 3s Lipo
SSD wheels, 1.9, might be trying 1.55's as the wheel wells on the F100 are pretty small.
Little bit of aluminum here and there.

    My sketch...

    Very rough start....

    Adding some supports.....

    Left side fender.....

Very rough passenger side waiting for the Dremel!

So many 50's and 60's curvy trucks going on around here. Off to a great start! This will surely be a beauty.

It is amazing, the reason I became interested in posting my threads on SBG is that the quality and creativity of the many builders / enthusiasts (yours included!) gave me the motivation to attempt these builds. This one seemed a little daunting as the many curvatures seems challenging to say the least.

2Beers.....thanks very much. Your intricate detail work is incredible, and motivating. Your rear bumper work on your Chevy PU motivated me to try it on my '72.

Little progress tonight, hung the fenders, added the front lower valance panel and had enough time for a little rough sanding / shaping. Now the hood - oh my and the roof holy crap! And more curves!

Thanks Sean, yeah think its got a few too many curves! So I have THREE hours in the hood alone, kind off embarrassed, trim, heat, fit , trim some more....3 hours! Well at least it looks kinda close. A quick skim coat of filler - will see how close it looks tomorrow.

    Roughed up.....

    Not so roughed up..

It's Filler Time! Just sitting in place for now....a bit more trimming yet to go!
