It's sad you don't get much feedback from fellow forum members... Maybe if you take better photos of the build process? Anyway, I have a question: won't the portals make the "axles" wider? How are you going to work that out?

I get you. I'm trying to have the worst photos on the whole SBG :) . Seriously, you're right. You take detailed photos for every project and it's captivating. I'll try to improve.

About the width, the wheel's axle on the pic it's 5mm longer than it should be. In reality, these portals add 9mm for each side. I don't like that but was the thinnest I could make with these gears. In theory, I could make the rear ones with the stock width

Im new in this forum, but I always take it as compliment if nobody comments - then I assume that everyone who saw the post was very satisfied and atleast they don't find anything to criticize.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Halme

Thanks for the compliment..it still needs a bit of work to be as I intended but I'm loving the project and all the scratchbuilding involved.About the gears, they're 32dp gears from Hobbyking, I couldn't find cheaper. At the time, only ordered a pair to make this prototype and now they're out of stock for more 3 weeks..

And about the replies, I have the opposite opinion. If no one replies to a topic it's because there's nothing good enough to leave a remark. But It's only my opinion.

    Hi,

There's been a long hiatus,I've been making little progress on the Unimog while busy on other projects.

    There's some pics

I need to mount this to make it road legal

That's all for now. The homemade portals are on a standstill. Want to do the whole axle now. 3d printed or even CNC machined

One of the things I've been anxious to do were the side mirrors. The cab seems "naked" without them.

    Here's the first finished one:

    Only needs some paint

Mirrors are cool, how did you make them? Are they completely selfmade? Regards Jens

First, I've machined the shape in a mill, drilled the hole for the support and set screw and finally filling and sanding to make it look better. The "mirror" it's from a selfie stick. I think I can say that they're are 100% selfmade altough there was machines involved

    Cutout for the mirror

I've mounted one of mirrors to show it off at our event (USE - Ultimate Scale Experience). In lack of photos, there's a screengrab:

At that event, the truck only made 1/3 of the climb. It was only a matter of time to the gearbox fail.

Well, new gearbox fitted(thanks The-Gamer!) and it couldn't be bigger:

    Hi folks!

This project is slow and it be more because I've started a new one, more demanding. Those ones that poop a lot and cry at night :)

Well, this is the 2th mirror in place

Another thing I've finish was the funtional hatch. The hatch was there from the start but I had trouble figuring out out to make the mecanism to open. Nothing fancy but it works

Finally I can paint in the final color

Still working on the portals but I have a new approach. They're looking good. I'll show when I finish the first axle
