Here's your gate setup, it's their flip down design
    I love the storage compartment!!!
I'll be adding all metal hinges to all of these components. Would be nice to use working latches instead of magnets too.

    Hope these help n00b

    I'm just curious...
On the model it seems like the taper of the body along the side continues all the way to the back but on the 1:1 it looks like the taper ends at the pillar between the two doors. Or is one of these photos playing tricks on my eyes. On the actual Yota 40-series cruisers the taper always ends after the front door.

I'm guessing that's why n00b split the body where he did. With more structure, it'll have the details right.

The taper ends after the front door, that's why I put my seam there. It was only held together by clamps so it wasn't perfect.

    Cool.
Wasn't trying to be a nit-picking twit... but then again I've never had to try very hard. This is looking very cool by the way. I'm quite jealous of the future owner... for both the model and the 1:1.

Those pictures were very helpful. Thanks! I also like that compartment.

So here's one of my secrets on how to make rounded corners.shhh
-Staple a piece of styrene to a wooden dowel. Make sure the piece of styrene is bigger than your finished size to allow for trimming.

-Slowly apply heat with a heat gun.
-When the styrene starts to bend, roll the dowel in your hand (wear a glove).
-And this is what you get.

-Trim it to size and you're done.

Very cool that we can pry a tip or two out of the Off the Grid shop!

Much obliged for the tutorial on styrene bending... and I love the way this is taking shape. I'm a sucker for Cruisers.

That was the only free one. The rest will cost you!

No problem. I too enjoy a Cruiser from time to time. Might have to build my own 40 after this. Well, after that other one I started before this. And about 200 other things.

I had a chance to work on this today. The weather was nice so I did some sanding outdoors. Saves the workshop a little bit. I'll glue some more bits onto it tonight after dinner. It doesn't look like much so far, but I think it's getting there. At least all the rounded parts are done!

    Mmmm... seamless

Hey Mr. UNGLEWD! Do you have any topless pictures of the FJ44? I'd like to know what the door panels look like in full and how everything is around them. Door jambs and all that jazz.
