1/10 Scale Big Block Replica
Ok stage 1 is ready for building.
The goal here is to reproduce most of the basic parts of this engine using styrene.
I will be doing this in a series of PDF Templates and instructions.
Now much like the download for the hilift jack, I know that after the first few steps many of you will head off in your own directions to complete the build to suit your needs, that's awesome!
This will help keep the porportions accurate and give a good base to create your other components.
For the true scalers I know you'll want to add features specific to the "Big 3" auto makers so get your reference photo's ready.

The following download is Page 1 of many to come, I'll be starting mine this weekend.
As always I only ask that these are for personal use only, please don't reproduce these for others.
I'll do my best to add a page per week to keep things rolling.

As always your feedback is welcomed.

Print it out (no page scaling) and the labelled components should be actuall size to use as templates.
Good luck, and enjoy!

Kevin

No idea why this lost steam... Thought someone would grab the ball and run.
I'm on it now, second half of the templates on the way!

So what is part 2 going to cover?

http://i870.photobucket.com/albums/ab262/ax-10crazy/DSC_9593.jpg

I changed he placement of the top pieces a little from center otherwise there was quite a bit of overhang on the outside... I imagine the center will eventually be filled anyways.

This is excellent
BTW, remember that the cylinder bank on "vee" or opposed flat "boxer" configured engines are offset from each other.

Agreed some adjustments need to be made during building. As I get further into it I'll be making template adjustments to avoid the trial & error for anyone who want's to download it.
Was hoping to get at the hot rods during vacation but totally running out of time and ended up working through some of it. Will get to the updates as soon as I can

I had to post- this thread is the reason I registered here. I really appreciate the time you took to put this together, and to make it available for free to whoever wants it is really above and beyond. I look forward to updates (though I do not need anything past what you have provided!)

here are some pics for ya~ I always do mock ups before building for real-

the truck is an Early Bronco, I own the 1:1 show truck.

Again I really appreciate you offering this to us all for free- this is extremely nice of you-

my Build thread is located here: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/1-5-scale-rigs/368408-1-10-scale-bronco-build.html
it is the most scale 1:10 bronco I have seen anywhere. I call it "stupid scale". I apologize if the link does not belong here- please feel free to delete or move if necessary.

thanks,

L.R.

My pleasure, all of us are about sharing tools and secrets so you'll find all kinds of helpful folks.
Great build and man the real truck is stunning.
I think you should get a build thread going in the CUSTOMS & REPLICAS (http://scalebuildersguild.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?387-CUSTOMS-amp-REPLICAS) section so SBGers can enjoy it at home.

I agree, I have seen the build on Rcc and it is sweet but when it comes to "stupid scale" , let's be honest, it belongs in the guild!

with almost 17,000 views, 10 pages of posts and over 287 photos I wouldn't even begin to know where to start on a new thread here. I just don't have that much time, and definitely not that much motivation! lol If anyone wants to volunteer to move everything you have my blessing! (let me know about it though so I can do the updates on here!)

Good going you guys! Psst...just a minor point but there is an offset (when viewed from above) between the left and right bank of cylinders on the engine block because of the main bearing configuration. This applies to almost all V-anything push rod engine. Hint: look at a 1/24th scale v-8 engine from a model car kit

Copy that, adjustment will be made in V2 of the template
Thanks for the extra eyes on this

Long dead sir. GCM has a line of scale motors coming soon though, I'd invest in one of those.
