I don't think I've ever been this tempted to use the 'ready-to-build' design/livery (something I've never done).

http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa424/alanwernerphoto/Suppl1.jpg

.. But somehow, leaving creativity out of the equation just doesn't sit right; So let's see what we got for leftovers.

For the first time (I think), I've trimmed the body before painting as it was necessary to fit it with my Sprint2. I'm horrified at how thin the poly is on this Tamiya.

http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa424/alanwernerphoto/IMG_0130_1.jpg

The old HPI has driven many miles (and I'm talking real 1:1 miles!). A nightmare to work on, non-functioning hop-ups, slightly limited tuning capabilities, yada yada yada, the Sprint2 is not a car I would ever recommend. However, the bang-for-the-buck, the pure driving pleasure that I've gotten from her is incalculable, and I don't see it coming to an end any time soon.

Here you can see all the spaces for rocks/debris to escape. I've even added a hole under the rear diff.

http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa424/alanwernerphoto/IMG_0142_1.jpg

Extra ride-height and softer suspension is achieved through the patented MattMod (matt c) where the location of the lower shock-mount has been moved in closer to the pivot point of the A-arm. These arms had 2 options; Now there's 3.

http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa424/alanwernerphoto/IMG_0151-1.jpg

..Another angle.

http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa424/alanwernerphoto/IMG_0160.jpg

To save the pieces of your suspension needing replacement every run, make sure your chassis bottoms out before your shock does.

http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa424/alanwernerphoto/IMG_0155.jpg

EVERYTHING on this car has been shaved to increase tolerances. Even the front CVD's have been Dremeled to increase articulation. (Note the band of heat-shrink around the outer part of the axle/CVD to keep the pin in place in case the grub-screw should loosen)

http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa424/alanwernerphoto/IMG_0150-2.jpg

An old Mamba system keeps her adequately overpowered.

http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa424/alanwernerphoto/IMG_0163.jpg

But we like the torques.evil

http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa424/alanwernerphoto/IMG_0167-1.jpg

I also like my lower body-line close to my lower chassis. With a battery and a built up body (interior, lights...) she sits at 13mm.

http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa424/alanwernerphoto/IMG_0137-1.jpg

Fully drooped she reaches 24mm.

http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa424/alanwernerphoto/IMG_0140-2.jpg

Slammed.

http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa424/alanwernerphoto/IMG_0138-1.jpg

Ample camber keeps the wheels tucked nicely into the wells, but is hard on tires.

http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa424/alanwernerphoto/IMG_0147-1.jpg

Wear and tear is how I gauge my rc pleasure.

Thanks, Brayden! Unfortunately, I'll most likely go back to my standard rally wheels to keep the look somewhat period correct.

He's definitely my inspiration. Although all it took him was to call me and say that his rally car isn't getting enough use and bam! My car is ready to go again, A second car in the works, the backyard rally track is being rebuilt. He has magic powers I think.

Come to think of it, back in the 70's, my dad came home from a business-trip with the first home video-game ever. It was the black and white (as the TV's were) PONG game which I think was Atari.

The mandatory drywall tape/shoe goo reinforcement:

-Lights. (Made possible by Kev's yellow lens paint)
-Inner wheel-wells made from recycled miso soup take-out bowls.

Great stance! Bring it out on Sunday. I'll set mine up for some tarmac too. See if we can get them to traction roll.

The grass reflection in the rear quarter on the second last shot is money. Or is that a 'bio fuel' or 'hybrid' decal? 'My car runs off of grass' I can totally picture it bouncing over the little imperfections in the track. Slammed!

Your Lancia totally deserves some similar shots, Kev. Unfortunately, we aren't too welcome at this location anymore (until Rez the real-estate guru pulls some strings;)) so keep your eyes peeled for another big open 'abandoned' lot with just the right amount of dirt on broken asphalt. This is the only spot I know so we might have to look off the North Shore.:blackeye:
